Portraits For Everyone!

I discovered a knack for drawing when my kindergarten teacher praised me lavishly for drawing crayon people who actually looked like people, and the bird scribbles on the back of the paper were even more recognizable.

I love to sketch on my Ipad. Please check out my gallery and see if something might interest you, as wall art, as a screen saver on your computer or mobile device, to send as a greeting card to celebrate a special occasion, or something we haven’t thought of yet!

I especially love creating custom pet portraits and pet memorials. We had a Golden Retriever and a Borzoi, and those furry critters know how to win your heart!

Here are a few of my favorite feedbacks:

"I ordered a custom picture of my German Shepherd dog from Lois as a surprise gift for my husband and son. This was my first experience doing business with Lois. Lois patiently walked me through the entire process. I sent her several pictures of my dog and she recommended the best one based on her expertise. She kept me in the loop throughout the entire process, often sending me pictures of the progress of her sketch. Her turnaround time was incredibly fast and the finished product was better than I could have ever hoped for. My husband and son were speechless and the picture is now proudly displayed in our den. Lois has such a gift and I am so grateful I stumbled across her site. We now have a picture we will treasure forever. Thank you Lois!!!"

"We are so incredibly happy with our pets' portraits!! Lois does such beautiful work. She's so communicative, keeps you involved from the very beginning, and goes above and beyond to ensure each customer's happiness. We can't speak highly enough of Lois and her work. We just received the canvas products we ordered with the portraits Lois provided, and we are so thrilled. Thank you, Lois, for capturing the beauty and personalities of each of our pets. All the best to you."

"I can't say enough good things about Lois and her work. I had two pet portraits done to give as christmas gifts. Lois delivered in a timely fashion and... oh my lord the portraits were amazing. They truly captured the personalities and souls of our animals. Brought my mother to tears (of joy!) when she opened them. Communication throughout the process was superb.. She even sent progress updates periodically. Would highly recommend to anyone in the market. The flexibility of having the digital file is wonderful. I had them printed on canvas and they look fantastic. Thanks again!"

I was a winner in the 2012 New Yorker Eustace Tilley contest, displayed digital art at the Library of Congress, and the Clara Barton National Historic Site. I have a gallery wall at the Wagtime shop located on Capitol Hill across from the Navy Yard. I've written and illustrated three children's books - "A Tiny Fish Tale," "My Trip to Washington DC - from LA to DC and back - all by myself!" and "The Four Promises" available in print and Kindle formats on Amazon. "The Four Promises" and "A Tiny Fish Tale" were published by StoryChimes and are both available as apps from ITunes.

Thanks so much for your support and stopping by my shop. An "in process" progression image comes along with every custom request. Have fun with digital art!

Just a bit of a background for custom orders FYI:

The final product(s) is a jpeg image - like a photograph - of an original hand painted work of art. I use my iPad to paint the picture - the iPad is the canvas and the stylus is the brush. It is much neater than my pastels and watercolors, there is no postage, and the image can be used over and over again.

The final image can be printed in standard sizes up to ~18x24 on a desktop printer using a variety of papers, at Kinko's, Costco's or Staples; uploaded to websites that create prints, mats, stretched canvas, metals, acrylics, frames, pillows, duvets, totes, coffee mugs, etc.

If you are unable to process the portrait yourself, I have uploaded the final image for customers to Websites and sent a link for them to create the product they are interested in.

A single pet portrait is $50.00. The project will be completed in approximately 5-7 business days based on volume and time of the year!

Once a very clear photo(s) is sent to me, I'll make suggestions regarding portrait orientation. If you approve, a prelim sketch will be created. Updates on the progress of the artwork will also be sent along the way.
